Jayson Werth: Expected To Be Ready For Opening Day

Nationals GM Mike Rizzo said Saturday that expects Werth (shoulder) to be available when the regular season begins, the Washington Post reports.

Analysis:

Initial reports suggested Werth's recovery from January shoulder surgery would take 2-to-3 months, but the team seems confident he will be able to round into game shape by Opening Day. "He takes really good care of his body and probably as well-versed at getting prepared for the season as anyone that we have," Rizzo said. If Werth doesn't quite make it back in time to start the season, the team could turn to Nate McLouth or Michael Taylor to fill the void in left.
