Devin Mesoraco: Agrees To Four-Year Extension With Reds
Mesoraco agreed Monday to a four-year, $28 million extension with the Reds, the Cincinnati Enquirer's C. Trent Rosecrans reports.
Analysis:
The contract will cover Mesoraco's three remaining arbitration years and his first free agent eligible year, making him a free agent after the 2018 season. This certainly makes sense for both parties, as Mesoraco, 26, will get some stability while still being able to hit the free agent market in his prime, and the Reds have a chance to save some money over the next three years on one of the best young catchers in the game.
