Report: Dodgers working to add late-inning reliever

The Los Angeles Dodgers fielded one of the least effective bullpens in baseball last season, and the club's reconstituted front office is reportedly working to add a late-inning reliever to the roster before the 2015 campaign begins, according to Jon Morosi of FOX Sports.

Only four teams received less value from their relief pitchers in 2014 than the Dodgers, who had few appealing options to pitch late in games beyond closer Kenley Jansen. Though they added Joel Peralta, Chris Hatcher and Juan Nicasio to their relief corps through a series of trades earlier this winter, the club still lacks premium talent at the back of their bullpen.

The Dodgers signed Sergio Santos and Taiwanese import Chin-hui Tsao to minor-league deals in recent months, but appear eager to add a reliever with a more inspiring track record of both health and effectiveness in the major leagues. The list of relievers still available in free agency has thinned considerably in recent weeks, however, with Rafael Soriano, Francisco Rodriguez, Casey Janssen and Joba Chamberlain among the most accomplished options.
