Boxberger appears in line to open 2015 as the Rays' primary closer, with Jake McGee (elbow) set to begin the season on the DL.

Analysis:

Boxberger's first season with the Rays was a rousing success, as he posted a 2.37 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and .155 BAA in 64.2 innings. He finished third in strikeout percentage among relievers with at least 50 innings (42.1%), only behind Aroldis Chapman and Andrew Miller, while also trimming his walk rate nearly in half and notching 18 holds. McGee, who underwent arthroscopic surgery last week, said he expects to return by late April or early May, but it's at least possible Boxberger could hold onto the job upon McGee's return if he gets off to another strong start.
