Angels GM: We're likely done making moves

Jeff Curry / USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Angels general manager Jerry Dipoto wasn't the most active executive during the winter meetings this week and the trio of moves that were completed likely spells the end of the team's offseason shopping.

"If we’ve made our last move of the offseason, we’re perfectly fine with that," Dipoto told Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register

Dipoto began the winter meetings by acquiring backup catcher Drew Butera from the Los Angeles Dodgers, then sent nine-year Angel Howie Kendrick packing in a second deal with the Dodgers that brought back pitching prospect Andrew Heaney. The Angels' final move was to add to their infield depth by trading reliever Jairo Diaz for middle infielder Josh Rutledge.

Despite dealing Kendrick, who slashed .293/.347/.397 in 157 games at second base last season, Fletcher notes that Dipoto doesn't have any interest in free-agent infielders Stephen Drew or Jed Lowrie.

“I still have not called on any (free agents) and have no immediate plans to do so,” Dipoto said, “but I’ll give the caveat that if we see opportunity, we will try to capitalize.”
