The Seattle Mariners' search for a corner outfielder is running through the South Side of Chicago.

The Mariners and Chicago White Sox are reportedly engaged in serious talks about a deal involving outfielder Dayan Viciedo, according to Scott Merkin of MLB.com. The White Sox are seeking a reliever in return.

Seattle signed Nelson Cruz earlier this offseason, but the plan is likely to use him as the team's designated hitter instead of in the outfield.

Viciedo possesses the right-handed power the Mariners covet, but his career-low .281 on-base percentage from a season ago is troubling.

Year HR AVG/OBP/SLG SO
2014 21 .231/.281/.405 122
2013 14 .265/.304/.426 98
2012 25 .255/.300/.444 120

The 25-year-old is under team control until 2018 and is projected to earn $4.4 million in arbitration this season, according to MLB Trade Rumors.
