Reds sign Brennan Boesch to minor-league deal

The Cincinnati Reds continue to try and find value in other team's castaways as they signed outfielder Brennan Boesch to a minor-league deal on Wednesday, the team announced

Boesch, who was designated for assignment by the Los Angeles Angels in October, is a career .256/.309/.412 hitter. After appearing in 380 games over three seasons with the Detroit Tigers form 2010-12, the outfielder has struggled to crack a major-league lineup in stints with the New York Yankees and Angels. Over the past two seasons, Boesch has appeared in 50 games, hitting .222/.242/.389 with five home runs and 15 RBIs.

While his success at the highest level has gone astray, Boesch had no problem with Triple-A pitching in 2014. In 95 games with Salt Lake, the 29-year-old slashed .332/.381/.636 with 25 home runs and 85 RBIs.

Earlier this month, Cincinnati signed corner infielder Josh Satin to a minor-league deal after he was outrighted from the New York Mets 40-man roster.
