2005 - Red Sox trade Hanley Ramirez, Anibal Sanchez to Marlins for Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell

The Florida Marlins are in complete rebuild mode.

Two seasons removed from their World Series win in 2003, the Marlins broker a blockbuster deal with the Boston Red Sox.

Highly touted youngsters Hanley Ramirez and Anibal Sanchez make their way to Florida along with Jesus Delgado. Third baseman Mike Lowell, starter Josh Beckett and reliever Guillermo Mota join a loaded Red Sox team.

Ramirez, considered Boston's top prospect at the time, spends seven seasons with the Marlins. In 943 games, the shortstop earns three All-Star appearances while slashing .300/.373/.500 with 148 home runs, 482 RBIs and 230 stolen bases.

Sanchez also spends seven seasons in Florida, posting a 44-45 record and 3.75 ERA in 133 appearances.

While the Marlins trade was geared for the future, the Red Sox's acquisitions had an immediate impact.

Beckett goes 51-26 over his first three seasons in Beantown, including a 4-0 record and 1.20 ERA during the Red Sox World Series championship run in 2007.

Lowell is also instrumental in Boston's success. Appearing in 612 games over four seasons, Lowell slashes .290/.346/.468 with 80 home runs and 374 RBIs in 612 games. The third baseman's best season comes in 2007, where he hits .324/.378/.501 while adding 21 home runs and a career-high 120 RBIs.
