Report: Twins, Royals are most aggressive suitors for Torii Hunter

Reuters

Torii Hunter could very well end up back in the American League Central if he opts to play another season, as the Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Royals are the two most determined teams in talks with the 39-year-old, according to Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish.

A deal is not imminent, however, and numerous other teams are reportedly interested in the five-time All-Star who managed a 111 OPS+ with 17 home runs over 142 games with the Detroit Tigers last season. Any prospect of a new deal with the Tigers, though, was recently quashed by general manager Dave Dombrowski.

Hunter could be enticed by the idea of a reunion with the Twins, who selected him in the first round of the 1993 draft and earned four postseason berths during his 11-year stint with the club. The Royals, incidentally, could look to add Hunter to address the outfield void in created by the likely departure of free agent Nori Aoki.
