A's ink DH Billy Butler

Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Oakland Athletics and free-agent designated hitter Billy Butler have reportedly agreed to terms on a three-year contract on Tuesday.

Butler, who is coming off a World Series appearance with the Royals, is slated to make $30 million over the length of his contract, according to multiple sources. Kansas City declined his club option for the upcoming season, using a $1 million buyout instead.

The 28-year-old hit .271 with nine home runs and 66 RBI over 151 games last season. He also supplied eight RBI on a .262 batting average in 13 games during the postseason for the Royals.

Butler, who was an All-Star in 2012, owns a career batting average of .295 with 127 home runs and 628 RBI in 1,166 games over eight seasons, all with the Royals.
