Report: Orioles, Markakis not close to deal

Though an extension between Nick Markakis and the Baltimore Orioles once seemed imminent, contract discussions appear to have slowed, one source told Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.
Negotiations are reportedly "inching along" between the Orioles and Markakis - who has spent his entire career in Baltimore - and a deal is not close. Earlier reports suggested the two parties were nearing a four-year deal that would keep the two-time Gold Glove award winner with the Orioles through his age-34 season.
Other teams have reportedly had contract with the veteran outfielder, but the extent of those discussions remains unclear.
