Blue Jays hire Brook Jacoby as hitting coach
The Toronto Blue Jays officially announced Monday that they have hired Brook Jacoby as their new hitting coach.
Jacoby, who spent last season with the Texas Rangers as their assistant hitting coordinator, takes over for Kevin Seitzer and becomes the fourth hitting coach for the Blue Jays in as many seasons. The 54-year-old Jacoby spent seven seasons as the hitting coach for the Cincinnati Reds prior to joining the Rangers.
Under Jacoby, the Reds produced the second-highest on-base percentage and third-highest run total in the National League during the 2013 season.
The Blue Jays managed one of the top offences in the majors last season under Seitzer, though the two sides weren't able to come to terms on a new contract and Seitzer eventually left for the Atlanta Braves.
