Report: Yankees 'intrigued' by Elvis Andrus as Jeter's replacement

Another name has emerged in the search to replace Derek Jeter.

The New York Yankees are intrigued by Texas Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus, reports Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

The Yankees have the unenviable task of replacing The Captain this offseason, and engineering a trade for Colorado Rockies superstar Troy Tulowitzki won't be easy.

Sherman believes the Yankees view Andrus as a potential comeback player after he hit .263 with a .647 OPS in 2014. The 26-year-old also has an eight-year, $120-million extension that will kick in next season.

The Rangers could be willing to move Andrus due to his large contract and the emergence of middle infielders Rougned Odor, Jurickson Profar and Luis Sardinas behind him.

Andrus has proven to be an incredibly durable player throughout his six-year career, playing in at least 145 games each season.
