Diamondbacks exercise 2015 options on Hudson, Reynolds

The Arizona Diamondbacks fortified their pitching depth Thursday by exercising contract options on right-hander Daniel Hudson and left-hander Matt Reynolds for 2015, the club announced.

Hudson missed the majority of the season recovering from his second Tommy John surgery, but the three relief appearances he made in September were enough to compel the Diamondbacks to exercise his $800,000 option. Though Hudson has spent nearly two full seasons on the disabled list, the 27-year-old crafted a 3.49 ERA (113 ERA+) over 33 starts in 2011, and the club could look to convert him back into a starter this season.

Reynolds, meanwhile, is set to earn $600,000 next year despite missing the entire 2014 campaign recovering from his own Tommy John surgery. The 30-year-old last pitched in 2013, when he fashioned a 1.98 ERA over 30 relief appearances.
