Alex Rodriguez's PED suspension offically ends

Upon conclusion of the World Series, New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez's one-year suspension is officially over.

The disenchanted slugger missed the entire 2014 campaign following MLB's investigation into the Biogenesis case, with Rodriguez receiving the stiffest penalty.

What is expected from a 39-year-old - who has played only 265 games over the last four seasons - remains to be seen, but what he is owed monetarily remains much clearer. Rodriguez is under contract to the Yankees for three more seasons with a price tag of $61 million. The financial commitment only grows should he reach the 660 home run milestone and beyond - a feat he's a mere six long balls away from accomplishing.

Though manager Joe Girardi said earlier in October that he expects Rodriguez to be the team's third baseman next season, general manger Brian Cashman did acknowledge that the team is exploring options at the hot corner should A-Rod not hold up.

The Yankees employed a revolving door of third baseman this season with Chase Headley, Kelly Johnson, Martin Prado, Scott Sizemore, Yangervis Solarte and Zelous Wheeler seeing time at the hot corner.
