San Francisco Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner earned World Series MVP honors Wednesday night after tossing five scoreless innings of relief in Game 7 to punctuate a sterling performance throughout the 110th Fall Classic.

Game IP H R BB SO WPA
WS g1 7 3 1 1 5 0.215
WS g5 9 4 0 0 8 0.445
WS g7 5 2 0 0 4 0.572

No pitcher logged more innings throughout the World Series than Bumgarner, the first pitcher to win the award since Cole Hamels in 2008. The 25-year-old allowed just one earned run over 21 innings this series (0.43 ERA), while becoming the first hurler since Sandy Koufax to throw more than four shutout innings in Game 7 of the World Series while working on two-days' rest.

Bumgarner's dominance in the World Series capped a magical month for the former first-round pick, who established a new single-season record with 52 2/3 innings pitched this postseason. In the end, Bumgarner finished the 2014 World Series with two wins and a five-inning save, and lowered his career World Series ERA to a ridiculous 0.25.
