The right-hander became the second Mets reliever to undergo sports hernia surgery this offseason, as Jenrry Mejia also went under the knife earlier this month. Familia is now on his way home to the Dominican Republic, and heath permitting, he should open next season in a key setup role after posting a 2.21 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and 73 strikeouts in 77.1 innings in 2014.
