Mets' Familia has hernia surgery

NEW YORK - Mets pitcher Jeurys Familia has undergone hernia surgery.

The team said Dr. Bill Meyers operated to repair bilateral sports hernias on Friday in Philadelphia.

Familia was en route to his home in the Dominican Republic, the Mets said Saturday.

The 25-year-old was 2-5 with a 2.21 ERA and five saves in a team-high 76 pitching appearances this year.
