Report: Molitor, Mientkiewicz and Lovullo finalists for next Twins manager

The Minnesota Twins have reportedly narrowed their list of managerial candidates down to three.

Twins infield and base running coach Paul Molitor, High-A Fort Myers manager Doug Mientkiewicz and Boston Red Sox bench coach Torey Lovullo are the finalists to succeed former manager Ron Gardenhire, according to LaVelle Neal of the Star Tribune

Molitor underwent his second full-length interview with the Twins on Tuesday and told Mike Berardino of the Pioneer Press that "it went fine."

Mientkiewicz, who already underwent his second interview last week, also felt good following his meeting.

“It went pretty good,” Mientkiewicz said. “It felt good. I told them the truth. We’ll see what happens.”

The Red Sox granted the Twins an extension to keep talking to Lovullo on Tuesday, as Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that he's very much in the hunt for the position.

Minnesota parted ways with Gardenhire in late September after 13 seasons.
