Norris underwent arthroscopic surgery Tuesday to remove bone spurs and loose bodies from his left elbow.

Analysis:

Recovery from said procedure typically only takes about six weeks, so Norris' availability for spring training is not in any real danger. A second-round pick in 2011, Norris dominated in 13 starts at High-A Dunedin to begin the year (1.22 ERA, 10.3 K/9), but struggled a bit to adjust after making the jump to Double-A New Hampshire (4.54 ERA). The team was still confident enough to advance him to Triple-A Buffalo before the end of the season, and Norris finished strong, with a 3.18 ERA and 38 strikeouts in just 22.2 innings at that level. He could be a candidate to join the rotation early next season.
