Rangers GM: We aren't in the market for top-end free-agent pitchers
Changes are surely on the horizon after the Texas Rangers finished the season with an American League-worst 67 wins, but general manager Jon Daniels won't be looking to add a pricey arm to his pitching staff for 2015.
Following the team's season finale, Daniels told reporters that the team isn't in the market for top-of-the-market free-agent pitchers this off-season, which would rule out James Shields, Max Scherzer, Jon Lester, Ervin Santana and others from heading to the Rangers via free agency.
Texas already boasts a bonafide No. 1 starter in Yu Darvish, and have big financial commitments to pitchers Matt Harrison and Derek Holland. Texas also has a few young pitchers recovering from injuries such as Martin Perez and Miles Mikolas to consider moving forward. And finally, there's free agent right-hander Colby Lewis, who has also expressed interest in returning to the team for another year.
The Rangers' injury-ravaged rotation posted a 4.50 combined ERA in 2014 - the third-worst mark in the bigs.
