Rays' Maddon anticipates discussions about contract extension

Tampa Bay Rays manager Joe Maddon, whose contract expires after the 2015 campaign, doesn't seem worried that no progress has been made yet towards an extension.

“Nothing yet [on an extension]. I’m not concerned,” Maddon told the Boston Globe. “I’m not one to ask or pursue.”

Maddon helped lead the Rays to four postseason appearances and one American League pennant throughout his nine-year tenure with club, and recently reiterated his desire to remain in Tampa Bay.

"Of course I want to, but it's not up to me," Maddon told the Tampa Bay Times. "Do I anticipate it? I think we're pretty consistent about what we do and how we do it. So from that perspective, I would anticipate yes.

"Do I always want to be a Ray? Yes. And I am certain if it's mutual on the other side that it would happen again. … But it's not incumbent on me to start that conversation."
