Roberto Clemente award nominees released

The Robert Clemente Award is presented every year to the MLB player that best represents the game through positive contributions on and off the field, including sportsmanship and community involvement. 

Each team nominates one player from their roster, and the winner is decided via fan voting and a panel of dignitaries, including commissioner Bud Selig, media members and league executives. 

The list of 2014 nominees was released Tuesday

Last season, Carlos Beltran took home the award, after more than 1.3 million fans cast votes. Clayton Kershaw has a chance to be the first ever two-time winner, after winning in 2012.
