Brewers' Gomez shut down for a week due to sprained wrist
The Milwaukee Brewers will be forced to vie for a division title without Carlos Gomez for at least the next week, as the 28-year-old has been shut down amid persistent soreness in his sprained wrist, reports Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
As it turns out #Brewers Carlos Gomez will be shut down a week before resuming baseball drills so this could be a couple weeks absence.

Gomez was lifted from Sunday's clash with the San Francisco Giants amid discomfort in his wrist and was subsequently examined by the team's medical staff. The two-time All-Star was omitted from the lineup Monday before the Brewers opted to shut him down prior to Tuesday's game against the Chicago Cubs.
Gomez has struggled mightily of late, hitting just .212/.289/.242 with one extra-base hit and 10 strikeouts over his last nine contests.
