St. Louis Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak made a splash Wednesday by acquiring right-hander Justin Masterson from the Cleveland Indians, and that might be the only move he makes prior to Thursday's non-waiver trade deadline.

The Cardinals desperately need an upgrade on offense, entering play Wednesday averaging 3.68 runs per game - which ranks 29th in the bigs.

The Cardinals previously signed free-agent catcher A.J. Pierzynski to a deal in an attempt to inspire some offense after he was released by the Boston Red Sox.

Mozeliak also made it clear that rookie Oscar Taveras is not available to be dealt in a potential deal at this point.
