The New York Yankees have reportedly kicked the tires on acquiring Chicago White Sox left-hander John Danks.

Talks between the two clubs are believed to be in the early stages, according to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com. Heyman notes Danks has a six-team no-trade list and it remains unclear if the Yankees are on it or not.

Danks, 29, is struggling to regain his 2008-2010 form after undergoing shoulder surgery at the end of 2012. The left-hander sports a 4.35 ERA and 4.70 FIP in 124 innings this year.

The Yankees are desperate to add to a staff that lost four-fifths of its Opening Day rotation to injuries and one that currently includes no lefties.

Danks, however, has struggled with his home run rates over the last two seasons, making him a less-than-ideal fit at Yankee Stadium.

His 1.16 home runs per nine innings ranks seventh in the American League, one year after leading all pitchers in the category (1.82) among starters with at least 130 innings pitched.
