Joe Nathan was brought into the Detroit Tigers bullpen to try and give them an effective arm that they lacked during their ALCS loss to the Boston Red Sox a season ago.

However, the 39-year-old has struggled to find the same success this season that earned him six All-Star nods and 360 career saves.

The Tigers have been reportedly in talks about acquiring more relief help and after Nathan imploded during his appearance on Saturday against the Cleveland Indians - allowing three runs off two hits and two walks in one inning - there's just cause.

Nathan, though, is not letting the talk of additions or subtractions to the roster bother him.

“I’m way too old to worry about that kind of stuff. I’ve done way too much in this game, and in my career — I think it would be unfair to myself to beat myself up with that kind of stuff, with all the things I’ve gone through in my career,” Nathan told the Oakland Press. “I know that’s a part of the game, and that’s stuff that will be talked about, but that’s not for me to worry about.”

Nathan was much sharper Sunday in a non-save situation, pitching a clean ninth inning, but his full body of work on the season is concerning. In 34 2/3 innings, Nathan has a career-worst 6.23 ERA and 1.58 WHIP
