Despite Chase Headley having generated interest on the trade market, the San Diego Padres might not deal the third baseman in hopes of bringing him back next season.
Hinch says Chase Headley is healthy and teams are interested, but they could also keep him and offer a qualifying offer. #Padres

The 30-year-old, who is set to become a free agent at the conclusion of this season, has spent his entire eight-year career with the Padres after they selected him in the second round of the 2005 draft. In 76 games this season - like much of the Padres' offense - Headley has struggled, batting .230/.298/.354 with seven home runs and 32 RBI.
If San Diego chooses to not deal Headley and extend him a qualifying offer, they'll receive a draft pick as compensation should he sign somewhere else.
