An unfortunate bunt attempt has landed Los Angeles Angels outfielder Collin Cowgill on the disabled list.

Cowgill, who is expected to miss the next four-to-five weeks, squared up for a bunt during Saturday's game against the Texas Rangers but rather than make contact with the bat, he did so with his face (see below).

In 69 games this season, the 28-year-old is hitting .277/.354/.407 with five home runs and 16 RBI.

Utility man and former first-round pick Grant Green has been called up in Cowgill's absence. The 26-year-old is hitting .324/.333/.419 in 29 games with the Angels this season.
