Alex Wood: Move To Bullpen Temporary

Wood will only be available in the bullpen through next Wednesday and is expected to start May 17 against the Cardinals, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Analysis:

Word came down Friday that Wood has been moved to the bullpen, but it sounds like he'll end up missing just one turn through the rotation this time around. It's a way for the Braves to manage his innings, as Wood threw 139.2 frames between the minors and majors last season and doesn't figure to be available for a typical starter's workload. The Braves could skip his starts several times throughout the year, but his role will hinge on how Aaron Harang and Gavin Floyd perform on the back end.
