Zito has been officially removed from the Giants' rotation.

There had been some talk that the Giants could skip Zito's next scheduled start Sunday, but the team will take it a step further and remove Zito from the starting mix entirely. The 35-year-old has been struggling of late (7.65 ERA in July), but it's still a bit of a surprise considering it will be Guillermo Moscoso who takes over for Zito starting Sunday. Moscoso is likely just a place-holder to buy some time while Ryan Vogelsong (hand) continues his recovery.
