Longtime Boston Red Sox star and current NESN analyst Jim Rice pulled no punches after CC Sabathia called Rice's former club "weak" for bunting on him Thursday in the Bronx.
Rice dismissed Sabathia's "stupid" remarks and told the New York Yankees veteran to "lose some weight" in a postgame rant.
"What is he talking about? Bunting is part of the game," a fired-up Rice said. "You try to get on base any way you can. If you tell him to leave some of that chicken, that doughnut, and that burger away, maybe his leg would be okay that he can field that baseball. Yeah, that's just stupid."
"So there's nothing wrong with Nunez bunting in that situation," his co-host asked.
"No. No. Not at all," Rice said. "What he has a right to do is fulfill his contract, lose some weight, and go out there and pitch."
