Diamondbacks' Archie Bradley: Won't replace Miller in rotation
Bradley won't fill the opening in the Diamondbacks rotation for Thursday's game against the Nationals, Jody Jackson of FOX Sports Arizona reports.
Analysis:
The Diamondbacks have a permanent void in the rotation with Shelby Miller (elbow) opting to undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery, but given how much success Bradley has enjoyed as a multi-inning reliever, it doesn't sound like the organization is inclined to have him stretch out into a starting role just yet. It's difficult to quibble with the decision, as Bradley has been an electric stopper for the Diamondbacks, turning in a 1.20 ERA and 0.80 WHIP and collecting 18 strikeouts and four holds over 15 innings. Triple-A Reno starters Braden Shipley, Keyvius Sampson and Anthony Banda are seemingly the top candidates to take Miller's rotation spot, but the Diamondbacks have yet to formally clarify their plans.
