Watch: Cubs players collectively raise 2016 World Series banner
For the first time in 108 years, Wrigley Field had a brand new banner raised commemorating the Chicago Cubs as World Series champions, with Anthony Rizzo, Ben Zobrist, Jake Arrieta, Carl Edwards Jr., and Miguel Montero leading the way.
After the players collectively raised the banner - which was designed to match the ones from 1907 and 1908 - Rizzo walked out from the Wrigley Field brickwork holding the World Series trophy with the rest of the Cubs following behind.
The ceremony, which was delayed by rain, came immediately prior to the Cubs' home-opening game against the Los Angeles Dodgers - who they eliminated in the 2016 NLCS.
Game 7 of the World Series was famously also delayed by rain in between the ninth and 10th innings. The Cubs would go on to score two runs in the top of the 10th thanks - at least in part - to the now-famous meeting the team had during the rain delay called by outfielder Jason Heyward.
