Giants' Denard Span: Continues to sit with hip soreness

Span (hip) remains out of the lineup Thursday against the Diamondbacks, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Analysis:

It had been the expectation, that the Giants would be cautious with Span, so it doesn't come as much of a surprise that he's sitting out of Thursday's action to allow his sore hip to heal. Gorkys Hernandez will start in center field and hit leadoff in his place.
