Blue Jays' Aaron Sanchez: To throw side session in lieu of Friday start

Sanchez (finger) was scratched from his final spring start Friday and will throw a side session over the weekend instead, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports.

Analysis:

The Blue Jays took the cautious route with Sanchez on Friday rather than rush him back to game action before his finger is 100 percent. Despite being scratched Friday, Sanchez is still on track to start the Blue Jays' game against the Rays on April 8. Sanchez has struggled a bit this spring with an 8.44 ERA and more walks (9) than strikeouts (8), but he still figures to be a front-end starter in the Blue Jays' rotation once the season gets underway.
