Rangers' Hanser Alberto: Will receive PRP injection

Alberto is set to receive a platelet-rich plasma injection in his right shoulder and will be shut down from throwing for at least two weeks, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Analysis:

Alberto has been bothered by a sore right shoulder for most of March, and it appears the lingering issue will force him to begin the 2017 campaign on the DL. His timetable remains unclear, but there should be a better idea once he's cleared to begin throwing again. With the 24-year-old sidelined for the start of the season, Drew Robinson could replace him on the Opening Day roster.
