Twins' Ryan O'Rourke: Will open season on DL

O'Rourke is dealing with a strained flexor pronator mass and is expected to open the season on the 10-day disabled list, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports.

Analysis:

O'Rourke was auditioning for a bullpen gig in spring training, but with the elbow injury prompting the Twins to shut him down for at least the next 10 days, his chances of making the Opening Day roster have been dashed. Once he's cleared to throw again, O'Rourke will likely be bound for a rehab assignment in the minors, and there's a good possibility the Twins will keep him at Triple-A Rochester for good if the team is satisfied with the performance of its other left-handed relief options in the early going.
