Nationals' Jayson Werth: Returns to lineup Monday
Werth (knee) will bat second in the order and man left field in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Yankees, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis:
Werth has been sidelined the last two days with a sore knee, but manager Dusty Baker indicated that the team only held out the veteran outfielder for precautionary purposes. Durability concerns have hounded Werth throughout his career and are further amplified now that he's 37 years old, so it wouldn't be surprising if Baker built in more rest days for Werth during the regular season compared to the team's other lineup mainstays.
