Kazmir admits 'frustration is through the roof' after latest injury

After missing a month of action last season with a neck injury, Los Angeles Dodgers starter Scott Kazmir was hoping the new year would bring him better luck in the health department.

Unfortunately, the left-hander suffered a setback in his Cactus League start Monday, leaving the game after only 14 pitches (one-plus inning of work) and Kazmir admitted he's growing tired of the trend.

"The frustration is through the roof right now," he said, according to Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times.

Kazmir, who experienced hip tightness after throwing one pitch in the second inning, admitted that he felt some discomfort during his bullpen session prior to his start but figured it was nothing serious.

Turns out it might cost him some time, as the 33-year-old veteran is slated to undergo an MRI.

"There was no power, no direction," he said. "That’s a tough way to pitch. To try to have to manipulate my body just to be able to get through an outing is something that is definitely getting old."

Kazmir, who combined to a 10-6 record, 4.56 ERA, and 1.35 WHIP in his first season with the Dodgers, is owed $17.6 million in 2017 and 2018.
