Marlins' Jeff Locke: Has left shoulder examined

Locke underwent an MRI on his left shoulder Thursday, though manager Don Mattingly said he's optimistic that the discomfort isn't serious, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.

Analysis:

The left-hander already has been dealing with biceps tendinitis, so the new test is concerning. Still, as Mattingly said, this may just have been precautionary. Whenever he's able to get back to work, Locke will continue competing for a rotation spot.
