Desmond Jennings will get a chance to rejuvenate his career in Cincinnati, as the Reds agreed Thursday to a minor-league deal with the outfielder, the team announced.

Jennings will also receive an invite to the club's major-league spring training camp.

The 30-year-old was once one of the game's top prospects as he climbed through the Tampa Bay Rays' minor-league ranks. His major-league career failed to live up the billing, however, as he was frequently sidelined by knee injuries.

In seven seasons in the big leagues, Jennings is slashing .245/.322/.393 with 55 home runs.
