Report: Athletics re-sign Detwiler to minors deal
The Oakland Athletics have re-signed left-hander Ross Detwiler to a minor-league contract with an invite to big-league camp, sources told Yahoo's Jeff Passan.
He can earn $1 million plus incentives in the deal, according to Jon Heyman of FanRagSports.
Detwiler, a nine-year veteran, struggled in 2016 to the tune of a 6.14 ERA over 44 innings split between the Cleveland Indians and Athletics.
A former Washington Nationals draft pick, the 30-year-old will have a hard time competing for a rotation spot, going up against Sonny Gray, Sean Manaea, and Kendall Graveman. It's also expected that Andrew Triggs and Jharel Cotton get the opportunity to fill in the No. 4 and No. 5 spots, respectively.
Over his career, Detwiler owns a 4.36 ERA over 578 innings.
