Report: Indians to introduce Encarnacion Thursday

Toronto Blue Jays fans will be forced to shield their eyes this week.

Edwin Encarnacion is reportedly headed to Cleveland to undergo his physical on Wednesday, before meeting with media on Thursday, according to Paul Hoynes of Cleveland.com.

With cameras beaming, the Cleveland Indians are expected to officially announce Encarnacion's three-year deal with $65 million in guaranteed money.

Signing Encarnacion was a surprising coup for the Indians, who were one win away from the World Series title last season. After the club failed to reach an agreement with first baseman Mike Napoli, it filled that hole with Encarnacion.

Ever since 2012, Encarnacion has been one of the premier hitters in baseball, amassing 193 home runs, 550 RBIs, 145 doubles, and slashing .272/.367/.544 over that span.

Perhaps even more impressive, he's remained incredibly healthy.

Encarnacion hasn't been on the disabled list over the past two seasons, playing in 160 games in 2016 and 146 games in 2015.

Upon his arrival in Cleveland, the slugger is expected to split first base and designated hitter duties with Carlos Santana.
