The United States roster for the upcoming World Baseball Classic is shaping up as quite an impressive group of players.

Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt and Washington Nationals second baseman Daniel Murphy have committed to play for team USA, according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network.

Goldschmidt and Murphy would give the team two elite-level talents to go along with a roster consisting already of Nolan Arenado, Andrew McCutchen, and starters Max Scherzer and Chris Archer, respectfully.

Goldschmidt is coming off yet another productive season. The two-time Gold Glove winner slashed .297/.411/.489 with 24 home runs and 95 RBIs in 158 games. The 29-year-old has also finished second in MVP voting twice, in 2013 and 2015.

Murphy emerged as one of the best second basemen in all of baseball last season, putting together an MVP-like season, hitting .390/.595/.985 with 47 doubles - a league high - including 105 RBIs. For the first time in his career, Murphy finished second in MVP voting.
