Report: Gray generating little trade interest

The Oakland Athletics' biggest trade chip isn't getting much attention this winter.

Despite a weak free-agent market, right-hander Sonny Gray has reportedly generated little interest on the trade front, sources told Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Gray is coming off a career-worst season in which he posted a 5.69 ERA across 117 innings and missed almost all of the final two months of the campaign with soreness in his right arm. Prior to this season, however, Gray had posted a 2.88 ERA and 1.13 WHIP over 491 innings.

The Atlanta Braves expressed general interest in Gray in mid-November as they canvassed the market for a young, controllable starter, but it appears talks never reached a serious point.

Gray is arbitration eligible for the first time this winter and is projected to earn $3.7 million, according to MLB Trade Rumors. The 27-year-old is under team control through the 2019 season.
