Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado has committed to the World Baseball Classic and will play for Team USA, according to Thomas Harding of MLB.com.

Arenado, who has Puerto Rican and Cuban heritage but was born and raised in California, was taking some time to consider which team he would play for. According to WBC rules, a player is eligible to represent a country if they're a resident or if they were born/have a parent that was born there.

"It was a really tough decision; I was stressing out about it," Arenado told Harding.

"Obviously, Puerto Rico means a lot to me because of my mom. But the U.S. is the country I was born in, and I've never had a chance to represent Team USA and represent the country. I want to play for them and I want to go far with them. It's going to be a lot of fun."

Arenado will join Chris Archer, Adam Jones, and Max Scherzer who have all committed to Team USA. Games begin March 7 and continue through March 22.
