Cubs' Kyle Schwarber: Won't play outfield yet
Schwarber has not been medically cleared to play in the field yet and will only be used as a pinch hitter during the World Series games in Chicago, Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis:
There were thoughts that Schwarber could slot into the lineup as the Cubs' left fielder in an effort to keep his bat in the lineup, but doctors advised them that quick movements and cuts could be detrimental to the slugger's recovery. He could still come off the bench to hit at some point during the games at Wrigley Field, but the 23-year-old will have to wait to be in the starting lineup until he can DH in a potential Game 6 in Cleveland.
