Miller: Playing in the World Series is 'a dream scenario'

The Cleveland Indians are set to host the Chicago Cubs in Game 1 of the World Series at Progressive Field on Tuesday, and Andrew Miller isn't sure if the whole thing is even real.

Miller, the dominant left-handed relief pitcher who was named the ALCS MVP against the Toronto Blue Jays, called playing in the upcoming series a "dream scenario" in a recent column for The Players' Tribune.

The strapping 31-year-old southpaw described how he couldn't manage a regular sleep routine knowing he was on his way to pitch in his first World Series (Miller won a ring with the Red Sox in 2013, but didn't pitch in the series due to a foot injury).

"I kept wanting to wake up to make sure this whole thing wasn't a dream - that this was real life," Miller said of his inability to sleep. "I'd lay down, and I'd want to fall asleep, but the excitement of playing in a World Series was impossible to ignore."

Miller went on to explain how supportive the city of Cleveland has been since he came to the Indians in a trade deadline deal from the New York Yankees, while describing Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James' importance to the Indians.

It's been a blast to have that support from the Cavs, and, without question, LeBron is the man when it comes to hyping up our fans. I think the only way our stadium could be louder than when they show him on the jumbotron would be if we were to walk one off to win the World Series. That's it.

He's that important of a figure here.

We all want to bring a championship to Cleveland just like he did. That is the goal we are fighting toward.

Since coming to the Indians, Miller has been nearly unhittable, allowing just 19 hits across 40 2/3 innings between the regular and postseason. He's also yet to allow a run in the playoffs, and struck out a ridiculous 16.4 hitters per nine innings in the ALCS.
