Omitted from the lineup in Tuesday's 6-0 loss at Progressive Field, Jason Heyward won't start Game 2 of the World Series, either, as Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon has opted to start Jorge Soler in right field against the Cleveland Indians in lieu of the scuffling former All-Star.

Hitless in eight at-bats this postseason, Soler hasn't started since Game 3 of the National League Championship Series, where he went 0-for-2 with a walk and a strikeout at Dodger Stadium.

Willson Contreras, the 24-year-old rookie who went 1-for-2 with a double after entering Tuesday's series opener in the seventh inning, will start behind the plate, getting the nod over Miguel Montero and David Ross.

Jake Arrieta, the reigning National League Cy Young award winner, gets the ball for the Cubs for his first-ever World Series start. After putting up a 3.10 ERA (129 ERA+) this season, the 30-year-old right-hander has managed a 4.91 ERA in two playoff starts.

The Indians' lineup, meanwhile, will look a bit different against Arrieta than it did Tuesday against veteran left-hander Jon Lester.

Notably, Coco Crisp will take over for Brandon Guyer in left field, while rookie Tyler Naquin replaces Rajai Davis in center. Acquired by Cleveland in late-August, Crisp has been a big part of their offense throughout their World Series run, posting a .955 OPS while smashing two homers in six postseason games. Naquin, a first-round pick in 2012, managed an .886 OPS with 14 homers in 116 regular-season games, but has hit just .188 with nine strikeouts through his first six postseason contests.

Trevor Bauer, who was lifted from his previous starts just 21 pitches in after his lacerated pinkie (the result of a drone-repairing accident) started gushing blood, will take the mound for Cleveland, having allowed three earned runs through 5 1/3 postseason innings (5.06 ERA).
